Artist Feature: Cecil Devers of Heal and Flourish on Etsy!

In December I participated in St. Davids Holiday Santa Breakfast and Craft fair. I met this wonderful artist Cecil Devers. Cecil set up his table next to mine and we instantly began chatting and laughing like we were old friends. It's always nice to meet fellow artist at Arts and Craft shows. Having someone to talk to and even cover your booth for bathroom breaks!
Cecil makes and sells skin and hair conditioning creme. His table was so professionally set up so I was quickly drawn to his products. Since I lock my hair I was interested in whether or not I could use his product on my hair. He gave me a sample of the aroma free formula and I loved how it melted in the palm of my hand and that I only needed a dab to cover my hands and arms. Since it is made with cocoa oil it has a slight scent of Chocolate and it smelled divine.
After about an hour talking to Cecil I realized that I should invite him to be a featured artist on my blog! He has a wonderful sense of humor, quick smile and an honest and sincere demeanor. I instantly trusted him and wanted to know more about his products. The creative displays and effortless charm and caring way he conducted business really moved me to want to help promote him and the skin conditioning creme! So here I am writing about him and here you are reading about him, Cecil Devers creator and maker of Heal and Flourish!

AJ: A little background first, Where are you from?
CD:
I was born in a small college town (Carbondale, IL). My parents meet while in college at SIU in Carbondale. We moved to Chicago when I was three years old.
I lived there until I decided to go to college in 2001. I moved to Kearney, NE. Studied and graduated in a social work program and graduated from UNK in 2005. And yes … I moved back the same day of my graduation. I moved back to Chicago in 2005 and went to back to school for a social work graduate program at UIC in Chicago from 2007 to 2008. I moved to Berkeley in 2008 and been here since.
AJ: When did you start making skin products and or crafts of any kind?
CD: I started looking at skin products that address my skins texture in 2002.
AJ: What made you create a skin conditioning creme?
When designing Heal And Flourish. I never intended to sell the body cream. As I began using it more and more, people close to me noticed the glow of my skin. One of my cousins was convinced I started using makeup. Saying, “Ain’t no man’s skins look that clear, when you eat all of those French fries and chips. Well not without the help of Covergirl.” Then he would sing the “Covergirl” theme song. “Easy breezy beautiful, Covergirl.”
